Things hadn't improved for Edmund since his conversation with Charlie in the kitchen. Yes, he felt more comfortable with the idea, with him doing it and with Charlie doing it to him. He's fresh from a shower when he comes home (he's started to think of his own place and Edmund's place pretty much interchangeably as 'home') and he toes off his sneakers and crawls up onto the bed without pausing, settling down with his head resting on Ed's hip and not really paying attention to the fact that he's going to get Ed's shirt wet.

"What're you reading?" he asks, craning his neck to see.

"A book on spanking, actually," he replied without thinking much of it. Charlie shocked him enough times that, if Edmund returned the favor now, it was only fair.

Ed lifted his hand to comb his fingers through Charlie's hair, and was met with cool dampness. "Oh, you're still wet," he complained half-heartedly, wiping off his hand on Charlie's shirt.

In the process of trailing one hand up the back of Edmund's thigh, Charlie pauses, raising both eyebrows and looking up into his boyfriend's face for a moment.

"...Huh." He snags Edmund's hand and draws it up to his mouth, sucking absently on his knuckle. "Learning anything good?"

Not quite as satisfying of a reaction as Edmund would have hoped for, but it was better than nothing. Biting his lip gently, Ed watched Charlie suck on his finger and shook his head, knowing he was just up to it to get a rise out of Ed (and because, we should hope, he liked to suck on Edmund's fingers).

"It goes back to the Romans and the ancient Indians," he said. "And, apparently, there are thousands of drawings from during Victoria's reign, so it's quite British as well."
