Edmund wasn't looking forward to this at all. As much as he loved Luna, and his heart felt as though it would take flight every time he looked at her, Ed still loved Charlie, too. Charlie's spent most of the time since Ed left sleeping, and he's tousled and half naked when he appears, rubbing one hand through his hair and stiffling a yawn with the other. He grins lazily and leans against the doorframe.

"You two hanging out without me now?"

"It's a bit more than that," Luna says, trying not to let the inner light of her love shine too brightly and blind Charlie into anger. "But that's not my part to say."

She squeezes Edmund's hand, and gives him an adoring look.

Edmund had the awfully terrible feeling that this was going to hurt the both of them, but it absolutely had to be done. Just a quick glance at Luna's gorgeous face gave him strength and the assurance that this was the right thing to do.

"Charlie," he said, before taking a deep breath and letting it out. "I'm sorry to do this, truly I am. You know I care about you. ...But the fact of it is, Luna and I are in love and it simply wouldn't be fair to anyone for us to stay together."

For a moment, Charlie doesn't even have a conscious thought. He just stares at the both of them, his best friend and his boyfriend and this sort of shit happens in movies, not in real life. He just stares.

"I...what?" he finally manages to get out. "What? You...sent me a Valentine's note yesterday, Ed. I've...it's in the house."
