He'd spent all of the day after the day after Valentine's Day with Charlie and laying low. It just didn't seem right to focus on anything other than his boyfriend given how things were. Susan had just put Rickon down for a nap. No, "put" down for a nap was a nice way to put it; it was more like having wrestled with him for three quarters of an hour before he finally tantrumed himself to sleep. She emerged from Rickon's room just as Edmund came in. "Let's go outside," she whispered, taking him by the hand and out onto the porch. If they woke Rickon with their voices she'd never get him to nap again.

He didn't look quite as giddy as he had when she'd seen him last, so she was hopeful that the island madness had passed. "Are you all right?"

He didn't question her and followed obediently. He knew well enough what that tone of voice was for and how difficult Rickon could be.

Ed squeezed her hand briefly as they stepped outside and let go. "Better than I was, that's for sure," he said. "No wedding plans on the horizon either."

"Oh, thank heavens," Susan said, clearly relieved. "I'm so glad you've come to your senses. I'm assuming it was some sort of island madness?" She hoped that nothing that couldn't be fixed had happened while he was under the influence, as it were.

Edmund nodded, none too pleased with the situation even though it had worked itself out for the most part. And the most dangerous possible results had been avoided.

"I just remember looking at Luna and falling madly, stupidly in love," he explained, almost grumbling. "And she did the same. We had no control over what utter idiots we were being."
