Which makes sense to me because Azazael is actually a fallen angel (Gigori?) and not like Ruby.
This is such a good point - the idea that all demons used to be human has always stuck me as odd, since it's not the accepted theory... not that i'm saying the show has to stick to common theories about demons or anything, but still, i find it weird to think that all demons were human once... i mean, Lilith was never human either...
Also, SUCH a good point about Sam... *is intrigued*
Or they could just be misinformed. Demons don't exactly seem to spread the information around too freely, with the lower ranks being kept in the dark about a lot of things.
Traditional, demons are the same sorts of creatures as angels. Demons are just angels that swapped sides. In the Supernatural universe, it seems like the higher grade demons were angels previously. Uriel's words underlined this. Traditionally (and I don't think the series has said anything to contradict this) Lilith was originally sort of human and sort of not. She was created as Adam's wife, but as his equal, unlike Eve who was created subsidiary to Adam. Lilith rebelled against her proposed inferior position and then took up with Satan (Lucifer, whatever) and became the mother of all demons (or vampires). Either way, she has a particular dislike of children, which does fit somewhat with the show's representation of her having a fondness for possessing little girls

This makes me grin like whoa. I've always been of the belief that Sam's abilities don't really make him for Anti-Christ of the Year material. (Sam does a wave of his hand and destroys his own army? Oops? >_>)
Also, Pamela in the episode before OtHoaP, doesn't call Sam's powers into question but his intentions. Castiel has admitted that the angels have no idea what Sam's powers could mean in the future-what path he is on- and only Uriel out and out threatened him...and we all know how much we could trust Uriel.
I've always wondered since 4.10, if maybe Sam couldn't pull the Grace out of an angel, kind of how he used to pull demons out of people.

BUT SAM CAN'T KILL CASTIEL. HE CAN MAYBE TRY FOR DRAMATIC PURPOSES, BUT NO DYING.
