Gestures and lines.

Don't "OK" me!
It's funny how our little differences still amuse us sometimes. Henrik has always thought I gesticulate and make too many facial expressions as I speak. It's like I come with an endless collection of emoticons. So I figured that this must be a cultural thing, since he wasn't even familiar with some of my gestures and faces. There was ( Read more... )

Very interesting ~ ever watch mommy's & daddy's using exaggerated facial expressions to communicate with their babies, along with "ooooohs" & "ahhhhhs" of course... and shaking an index finger to say "NOOOOO!!!"??? The "language of love" operates on pretty much the same principals! You shoulda sang back in Portuguese to the "sweaty guys" jogging by! Next time, right? ;)

Nooo! I'd never sing back to the sweaty guys! Smiling was enough :D
Plus, I had nothing to sing back. No no no.

It really is fun. I constantly learn new things from him. It can be a new word in his language, or something from his culture or their history. I love it!
I agree. I didn't see that coming =)

I've heard that the "O.K." gesture was considered obscene in some countries but I didn't know that Brazil was among them. The "thumbs up" sign used in many countries to indicate "well done" or "everything's ready" is considered a particularly offensive gesture, akin to our "middle finger salute", in many middle eastern countries. It's easy to make the mistake of thinking that the meaning of gestures is universal or that's what acceptable behavior in one country is also acceptable in another. There was a news item earlier today about Hollywood actor Richard Gere hugging and kissing a Bollywood actress on the cheek at a public event in India over the weekend. Crowds of people all over the country burned Gere in effigy.

Congratulations! How many other women can say that they were hit on by hundreds of men all at once?

Oh yeah, I read about what happened to Richard Gere.
I didn't know that the thumbs up sign is considered offensive in some countries. It's such an innocent looking sign :D

Yeah yeah, I guess that was flattery haha
Have a fabulous week!

You have a fabulous week too, sweet Gigi.

If I'm not prying into personal matters; I was wondering when you and Henrik are moving to Norway. Will that be soon or will you be staying in Brazil a while longer yet?
