Stupid Windows 98SE

I just tried to install another stick of 256mb sdRam into this mobo. For a total of 512mb. Schu mentioned it might be a problem but I thought he said anymore than 512mb would cause probs. Talk about mass os failure :P Oh well, I am staring at this WinXP Pro disc and pondering.....Maybe I can get away with just upgrading to Xp instead of format/ ( Read more... )

If you're going to go with Windows XP Pro, you may want to get the data you want to save off of the hard drive, reformat the drive with the NTFS file-system, and just do a new install. You can copy your data files back later, but you will have to reinstall all of your programs. Still, it will keep problems from coming up later on, whereas if you just upgraded the computer to XP Pro, it would be a hassle later on.

I knew i would regret it if i didnt format and use NTFS so I been backin up files all day....30 gig down and 5 to go....
