Rosenthol Design samples: carnival wedding invitation

Here are the wedding invitations I designed for Briavael O'Reilly and Nicole Pashka. They wanted the invites to look like carnival tickets, so I drew from my extensive collection of vintage woodtype fonts to create something with a fun old-time feel. These are so cool! My mom is great but she was really freaked out by "new fangled" wedding invitations that weren't plain white. I wish we could've done something more crazy (though what we picked out was great, and lovely).

I'm envious of how great these are. Well done!

Thanks! I'm sorry your mom couldn't appreciate how you wanted to celebrate your wedding, but glad you did find something you were happy with. I can certainly do classic elegant invitations, but the more funky individual ones are so much more fun -- and they're often a great chance for the couple to think about what really represents them as a couple, instead of individuals.

I'm probably not giving her enough credit - once we found a way to explain our "weird" choices to my rather judgmental extended family (i.e. "Oh, it's a Scandinavian tradition from the groom's family!"), things were easier for her. Mostly, her reaction was based on what she KNEW (correctly!!) what her family's reaction would be... and it really wasn't worth the grief.

Andy & I picked out the final invitation ourselves, but we picked it from a shop with samples, so mom agreed that anything we picked was probably "normal" these days. It could've been so much worse!

I just want to say that I loved the tree and thought it suited the day perfectly.
