Thanks for sharing. Another book for the list. Have you read much by Lovecraft? Also, have you come across the book We by Russian writer Yevgeny Zamyatin?

Lovecraft and Poe were about all I read until King came on the scene. Before that, pickings were scarce (though a novel would pop up from time to time.) So, I've probably read all of Lovecraft's stories.

No, I'd never heard of that book! Does sound a lot like 1984, so Orwell must have been aware of the book. Thanks for the heads-up. Just picked it up for 45¢.

Let me know what you think. It gets a mention as being an important influence on Orwell and others in John Gray's book, The New Leviathans https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/447514/the-new-leviathans-by-gray-john/9780141999432 which is a great read.

I will certainly do that. I'm interested in reading how much Orwell followed his thinking.

Now, this actually sounds really interesting and possibly something I might enjoy.

You know, I think you might. There's a minimum of gore, and the story is very character driven.

This does sound good. It's awesome when the author keeps things moving along but still allows for the reader to get to know the major players.

I've found that Wilson is pretty good at that. His characters have always come alive for me. His The Keep is one of my all-time favorites.
