Sounds interesting … akthough I admit to needing to be in a certain mood to appreciate detailed history lessons.

I'm a great admirer of the man, so anything about him is going to draw me in.

The book is an easy read, though. Not dry at all.

Hindsight is a wonderful tool *wry grin*

It does sound an interesting book.

Yeah, it is (deep heavy sigh.) But even at the time there was a lot of pushback to having him buried in New York.

It is interesting. I learned quite a bit about, not Grant, but about the politics of the years after his death.

I suppose you can gain some kind of comfort from knowing that at least the problem of disrepair is now being addressed... But as you say, Arlington would have been a better place.

I only hope that the repairs aren't just a one off. Fix it and then forget it. If so, I do think that they should move him.

I have always found Grant to be an interesting historical figure. He led such a full life. The book sounds like it was very well researched. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

After reading his memoirs, he became a personal hero of mine. So, while I was disturbed at some of the revelations in this book, it was all in all an interesting read.
