It's a shame it didn't deliver what it promised. From reading the blurb, I thought it sounded an excellent, intriguing book, one I might well have looked up.

I think the book would have been so much better without the romance, or if Klune had toned down the melodrama. It got old after awhile.

I don’t know that this would be quite my cup of tea. I like many forms of fantasy, and true love is great, but I’m not much into two people having the “hots” for each other without any depth of relationship. Not that there’s anything wrong with that kind of thing between consenting adults. It’s just not fulfilling to me as a reader.

Exactly. Which was a real disappointment, considering that the author has written books where he gives the characters time to truly fall in love. Maybe because the characters in this book were rather young, he might have thought they wouldn't have the depth, so the story becomes about two young guys who are constantly thinking about having sex with the other.

I'm sorry this one didn't work for you. Insta love is not a trope I enjoy either. Hopefully the next one is better.

I hope so, because I HAVE ALL FOUR OF THEM! *g* Not sure when, or if, I'll attempt the second book in the series.
