Y'know... you're a rather fragile model.

... How long? Uh... couple weeks?

About that long. I think.

[Metal was in the workshop as well, and he definitely noticed Gate waking up. As soon as the Repliroid was up, Metal was at his side, tugging at his sleeve, urging the older artificial life form to come see something. As excited as Metal was, and given the way he was tugging insistently on Gate's sleeve, he seemed every bit the metal child he actually was.]

Metal?

[An inquisitive look overtook him. He had not seen the mechaniloid so enthused before. Yet a prideful look curved his mouth at the thought that the once static machine had developed new and glorious personality traits while he was away.]

Yes, go on, show me.

[He followed him without qualm. Having just awoken, he was without doubt longing to assess his situation.]

[Metal led Gate along before pointing out the source of his excitement: an unpainted Badnik variant was rolling around on a single wheel, picking up parts around the shop and setting them in their proper places. The plating on it was slightly crude, given what Metal had to work with, but it was clearly in the shape of a snail or mollusk of some kind, though it lacked the weapons that Badniks were known for.]

It...

[The scientist was aghast at Metal's little creation. Gliding over to the small rolling mollusk that hobbled along through it's chores, he knelt down, picking up a small bolt to hold in front of it to take.]

Metal, it is perfect. This is true life at work.

[A smile, genuine, and stark contract to his usual malevolent smirks, crossed his expression as he looked over to his mechanical child.]

At such a rate, you could design for yourself many new comrades timelessly.

[He watched the little thing dilly-dally in it's work with such care. While so shortchanged by it's materials, the heart placed into it made up for it's outer flaws ten-fold. Enchanted, he thought of how he would build for himself a tiny army of cleanbots and idle the day away watching them waltz and dance about, fascinated by their tiny nimble minds he had built for them to make their world a simple and happy one.]

Give the guy a break, yeah? He's not the smartest in the bunch, but he cares about you. That's saying something.
