some great titles on that list. How was Ender's Game? i've been meaning to read that for years.

It was okay. Definitely not one of my favorites from the year, but it was fairly entertaining. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of science fiction. I think the book lends itself well to the screen, so the film adaptation coming out this year has potential.

I am AFRAID to read Fahrenheit 451.

Is this list smaller than your 2011 one?

There's no excuse for going 26 years without reading Fahrenheit 451. No excuse. This was my third time revisiting it, and it remains one of my all time favorites. Something tells me it's quite different from what you're expecting it to be.

What'd you think of Lives of the Monster Dogs? I got that book years ago based on the cover alone. I don't remember anything else about it except for the ending.

Well, like you, I bought it mostly because of the cover. That and the bizarre premise intrigued me. But of the books I read last year, it was by far the worst. I thought the back story and the journals from the dogs was interesting, but overall I felt the writing was weak, the story sputtered, the narrator was an empty vessel, and the book felt simultaneously bloated and underdeveloped. Also, I had a damn hard time picturing the monster dogs walking and talking and using their prosthetic hands, but maybe that just means my imagination is lacking.

The only books I can remember reading from last year are The End of Everything and In Cold Blood, which is sad because I know I must have read at least a couple more titles, but none else come to mind. Maybe I'll check out some of these highly recommended ones from you: so far, this year's list has been rather lackluster as well. Aside from Mystic River, I've yet to finish (or find myself completely absorbed in) anything else I've cracked open. :\
