I heard it was kinda depthless, and not nearly as good as Sin City.

However, this was from the local snobby trendy artsy fartsy paper, and they pretty much pan every movie you would actually want to see, and give the ones no one has ever heard of high marks.

IT's the story of Thermoplaye, fleshed out. It's not a series of short stories. It's a fight film, it's battle, it's pretty much just what it appears to be. Depthless? feh, they weren't trying to tell a large story.

Same guys who reviewed that are the reason they screwed up Pearl Harbor with the bad plot, and nearly did the same with Armageddon. It has a love story, but it's minor. They did not waste alot of screen with it, just used it to break up the battles.

You'll dig

Yeah, I'm familiar with Thermopylae. Great true story, even if the greeks probably did exaggerate a little. Leonidas is a truly mythic figure.

And yeah, I don't take much stock in the movie reviews the The Other Paper, but I knew they were gaga about Sin City, so I was startled when they didn't like this one.

Perhaps I should not have been, though. I mean, it is about war, and not in a negative way. That probably runs counter to their personal beliefs: not a single conscientious objector to be found, much less honored.

Hey dood!

I am trying to get Lisa to go with me on the train to NYC on Friday. Probably in the afternoon. It's about an hour and a half ride. Interested?
