I'm probably one of the few Lorelai/Christopher shippers (at least, I'm the only one I know), so I do think it should have been Lorelai. Numerous times throughout the series, we see that Chris knows her better than most people, and the two of them seem to have a bond that's much stronger than with Max, Jason or even Luke. That being said, I don't know an adult relationship would work; as we saw in S7, things didn't really run that smoothly. But I honestly think that they're great together, and that with some effort (and decent writing...) it could work out in the end ( ... )

I actually don't think their shared history is enough of a basis for a relationship. My best friend is male, and I know just as much about him as his girlfriend of seven years does. And because I have the advantage of having known him since we were 13, there are things I know that she might not be able to. But that doesn't mean that he should be with me, or that the foundation for his relationship with his girlfriend isn't strong. I mean, obviously it's not exactly the same situation, but just because Chris and Lorelai have a history (or even chemistry or carnal knowledge of each other) doesn't mean they should have a future ( ... )
