I think Christopher is a bad plot device, basically, but I really do love when Lorelai wakes up and looks over and there he is. It gets even my stone cold heart to sigh a little, happily.
I really can't stand Dean (never could, even before I was really a fan of the show), but I remember hoping after all this that he would get so ticked at everything that he would just LEAVE ahha
The scene between Luke and Jess, where they're both quiet and manly on the bridge and they have a connection that Jess just does NOT let people have with him is very sweet. I do wonder how things would have been different if Jess had not been under Luke's care, or if it had been Dean who crashed the car. We've seen Luke angry and menacing when it comes to Rory's well-being before. I think he might have been even ANGRIER than Lorelai, which would have calmed her down. But, they were both in a state of impotent panic, so it just exploded between them.
I think Lorelai was right in that Luke was not at all thinking about the effect on Rory when he asked her to tutor Jess. But if she was that concerned she SHOULD have stopped it. So she has herself to blame as much as Luke or Jess. I think that guilt is part of what is fueling her anger.
I'm surprised that Christopher isn't more upset. But then we never see him as a truly angry or violent person. Probably growing up with his parents shaped him to be as unlike them as possible.
I think Luke sends Jess away for his own safety. From Lorelai and the rest of the town.
I think the town would have rather mocked one of the movies in the catalog than watch "The Yearling" again!
Kirk's film was awesome!
Dean worked on that car for months. Paid for all the parts, restored them, fit them together. Put his time, blood and sweat into it. You'd think he would blow up at the fact that Rory let Jess drive it and he totalled it. But Dean has a greater love than that car, poor guy . . .
