Whenever I have a gig in Georgia, I can find a Motel 6 room in the area for $30 or lower. It's a bed, a shower, and enough space to hang up and air out a dog suit. Who needs more than that? :)

More worrisome is a place with a deep shag carpet in an amazing shade of green - like moss or mold. :P

At rest stops, there is a thin booklet of hotel coupons for the area. I use them if I don't have a reservation when I'm traveling. the coupons don't save you much probably, but it almost guarantees a ro9om at that rate since its in writing. Also, since its college football season, you might have wandered into an area that has a home team playing...
