I love it. It's honestly - and not just because it's mine, although they would in any case add an extra level to my affection for it - one of my favourite pieces of yours and just of R/T, period. You always write these three, Remus, Tonks and Sirius so well. The dialogue in particular is always perfect. The male/female differences come through so clearly and so do the different personalities behind their speech. This era is my absolute favourite in fic, when Remus and Tonks were stumbling toward each other and Sirius was looking on with envious amusement. Which is exactly how it happened behind the scenes in canon, in my head. Remus is so hesistant and lovely and affectionate, and Tonks is wonderfully brash, funny and frustrated. Just lines like Therefore she must not spend too much and embarrass both of them, but a pair of novelty reindeer socks wasn’t going to rock anyone’s feet. - instant crystal clear idea of Tonks and her personality.
It's wonderful. I'm saving it to my desktop if that's okay. Thank you so much. x
As I've said before, I was very glad you were my giftee, especially when you more or less requested all the things I find the most fun to write. Such as yet another R/T get together at Christmas! I'm only sorry I couldn't squeeze a jealous boyfriend or two into one of the fics, but I'd used Charlie like that before, and in the other fic Edith rather bossily overruled all attempts Mary, Matthew and Richard made to get into a scene.
I'm glad this is your favourite era as well. There is so much going on under the surface in OotP, whether you think they actually got together then or not, and those undercurrents are wonderful to explore. It's also the one time we get Remus, Tonks and Sirius together, and I do like to think Sirius was looking approvingly on as R/T stumbled hesitantly towards each other. Though maybe there wasn't as much present stumbling as I imagined here, lol. Whatever JKR was thinking, I loved writing this and am very pleased you enjoyed it. It really was like old fanfic times and they were such good ones. :D
Oh, what a lovely fic to wake up to Christmas Eve morning! I'm sitting by a fire drinking coffee and this is just perfect and made me think how much I've missed your R/T fics--especially your Sirius, because you always write him and Tonks together so well.
why it was that whenever he was with her he found himself thinking there were better times ahead.
How he wanted to share them all with her.
Sigh. That is so, so lovely, and such a wartime sentiment. Reminds me very much of a WWII era story, somehow!
If there was ever a competition for the biggest number of R/T get-together fics set during OotP, then I'm sure I'd be in with a good chance of winning! They really are my favourite thing to write, and I'm sure you'll agree that Christmas Advents at Meta always seemed to bring out some of the best stories and art. Writing this was just like old times in a way, and while I'm not sure I've said anything new about them as a pairing it was still a lot of fun to do. And wasn't that always the point of it all? :D
And now I've finished my little tangent...! Thank you very much, as always, for the kind and thoughtful words. I'm always thrilled to hear you enjoy them - and I do like to write happy!Sirius, because he so seldom is allowed to be, lol.
This is so beautiful! I loved that they were both fretting over what to give each other, and Sirius' amusement with both of them. I loved that they gave each other what couldn't be wrapped in a box. :)
Aw, thanks very much for such a nice comment.:D I've often wondered what Tonks would give Remus as a gift; equally difficult for him to get her something when money and pride comes into it. But I'm sure they're clever enough to get round such problems - and give Sirius a laugh into the bargain!
I absolutely love this. It's so full of warmth and understanding. It's just spot on for them. I loved some of the little moments, like Sirius bursting out laughing when Remus can't understand what to get her, and it's also just so well structured and well written. Just a perfect thing for Christmas Eve night, thank you.
Thank you very much. ♥ I've always loved writing Christmas stories at Meta for these two, and though this was yet another get-together for them during OotP (I dread to think quite how many I've written over the years!), it was just as much fun as all the others. Lovely to hear you enjoyed it.
Aw, thanks very much! I find the 'one last time' bit sad as well, and so is how few of us R/T fans there are left now. But lots of happy memories in there - and never say never. ;)
