Dream 05 || The End of the Beginning

Warnings: The nature of the Reapers' Game is a warning in itself.

Dream Effects: (Optional) First, the feeling of giddiness and then it switches gears fast towards the end of the dream.

The city of Shibuya.

Possibly one of the busiest cities in the world. It was almost like everything there was moving at a quicker pace. The scramble crossing wouldn't be complete without the sea of people hurrying all over the place. This was still true for the Players who ended up in the UG. Time limits issued in the missions sometimes made it difficult to stop and take a breather. Which is why Shiki would totally immerse herself in shopping when she and Neku would make stops at the 104 (Much to the boy's dismay. It sometimes takes her ages to pick something from D + B or even in Natural Puppy.)

Besides the fact the going around the racks and trying stuff on was a relaxing act in itself, the clothes and the pins they bought would also help them out immensely in their Noise Battles. It was a win-win situation in her mind.

"All right!" The pair can be seen finally stepping out of the building wearing their new clothes. "We were so lucky~ Every store was having a sale! I bet these will really come in handy when we battle the Noise~~"

Shiki was giddy with excitement while Neku stared on blankly, just listening to the music blaring in his headphones.

Not again.

"Uhh, Neku?"

"..."

"Neeeeekuuuuuu?"

"..."

"UGH! EARTH TO EMO BOY?! ARE YOU IN THERE??"

Neku finally snapped out of his stupor only to shoot a glare at the girl.

"What?"

Shiki sighed. She thought that maybe Mr. H's talk about opening up to your partner wasn't sinking in yet.

"Sorry. You were kinda tuning me out again. Is everything okay?"

The boy gave a curt nod, turning away from her; a hand settling on one side of the headphones "Yeah. I'm fine. Just doing some thinking, that's all."

"Oh... Anything I can help with? Maybe we can figure it out together!"

"Nah, it's fine. Don't worry yourself about it."

"But--!"

She was about to protest when a familiar beeping sound interrupted their conversation.

"The mission!" Shiki said, flipping her phone open. Her brows furrowed in confusion. The mission was pretty simple... Too simple.

All the Mission Mail said was:

RUN.

"Well, that's strange. They usually have more info. What do you think Neku--"

When Shiki turned around, Neku Sakuraba was gone. But before she could even voice out her frustration, she quickly found out why all she needed to do was run. Noise, hundreds of them were coming her way and her without a partner to fight them with.

"Ugh!" the timer on her palm finally appeared, making her wince in pain. She had no choice but to flee from these monsters. As much as she hated it, Shiki was vulnerable to attack. She wouldn't stand a chance against the Noise.

With Mr. Mew in tow, Shiki ran with all her might. Even when she felt like she was going to collapse from exhaustion, the girl pushed on. Past the scramble crossing, past the blissfully unaware people frolicking near the statue of Hachiko until she ducked into the underpass. Luckily, there weren't any people using it at the time and Shiki used this opportunity to erase the Noise.

With or without Neku.

"THERE!"

It was impossible to fight them alone. Noise existed in two planes and the girl was fighting them in one. She needed her partner. She needed Neku. Hit after hit, her body was getting weaker. To add to insult to injury, the timer on her hand was starting to run out. Either way, Shiki will be erased. It's only a matter of time before her strength gives out or the clock reaches zero.

She couldn't take it anymore. Shiki fell to her knees, her fists pounding into the pavement in anger.

5 ...

No. I can't die yet. Not like this. No...

4 ...

3 ...

2 ...

1 ...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

ERASED.

Shiki wakes up screaming, startling her dog who quickly rushes to her side, barking. She's drenched in sweat, her face was pale and her breathing was shallow. She knows that wasn't how the Game worked, that her mind twisted it into a horrible nightmare.

After calming down a bit, Shiki reaches out and pets her dog on the head, hoping that the gesture would reassure him. "Ito, shhhhh... I'm okay. It's just dream..."

hrggggh partneeeerrrrrrr, you suck neku, ic, that was a long nap, public, guess who woke up from her sleep coma?, dammit noise, the reapers' game, dream
