Holidays

I think living in Louisiana in our family brings a new meaning to "the holidays." While it could mean the whole Thanksgiving/Christmas extravaganza, I think we can rival the holiday intensity with the first two weeks of February (Will's birthday, my birthday, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day, President's Day). Count us in for Mardi Gras next year! Now that we'll only live six hours away, that sounds totally doable. Hopefully there would be some events on President's Day Weekend, since that would probably be the easiest time to visit, but come to think of it it sounds more fun to just take leave in order to be there for your birthday and all the parades ( ... )

Actually Will has been naming everything Tucumcari . . . ever since we stayed overnight in Tucumcari, NM on our way back from Utah. Our vacuum is also named Tucumcari.

Oh yeah, you can't see the balloon guys' faces cause I was slow taking a picture, but they're all wearing bird masks. So I think they're supposed to be colorful tail-feathered birds.

I can agree with you about there being a place for cliche gifts. Actually I enjoy the cliche non-personal gifts of hand soap and lotion and cosmetics/toiletries for the same reason of not liking to buy it for myself, and enjoying what other people like/getting to sample without having to buy my own.

Oh, and I meant to say yes, I hope you come visit for Mardi Gras next year!! And, looking ahead, I think my favorite parade will be on President's Day weekend next year.
