Prospero's Whim Staff!!!!!!!
Why are there a zillion entries missing from the inbox?? I just counted and there are like 26 entries missing between the list at the top of the inbox and what's actually in the email.

Did we have people submitting stuff on paper rather than online? If the list counts both of them, that might explain it... I dunno where we'd find all the others, though, probably at the bottom of a pile in Mr. Allen's room or something. Next December.

I know that there were entries sumitted on paper. I think Megan might have them though, cuz she's been the Prospero's Whim maniac last year and this year.

Have you read the entries by Jade Spears (not the story, we already excluded that, right?) and Justine Wan?? I'm...not so sure we can include those... :\ I dunno, maybe I'm just being hypersensitive?

Did Jade submit multiple poems? I only saw the one... Yeah, totally not just you - I don't think that's going in. o.0 I must admit I really like the phrase "nine to five victim," for reasons that are beyond me, but... er, no. Abuse (especially when it's like that, like a good thing) doesn't belong in Prospero's Whim. I mean, if people have fantasies like that, I'm not gonna judge, but... you don't submit that to a readership like ours, I think that should really be common sense.

I have more sympathy for Justine Wan's story - I assume she was trying to make a political statement or to draw attention to horrors like that or something - but no, I don't think we can really publish it either. Late-term abortions are really not family-friendly material. -.-;

No, just the one poem from Jade. I like that phrase, too. Not really sure why, either, but I can kind of understand where she was coming from in the creation of it. Was it just me or did the first part of her poem remind you of the crucifixion of Jesus??? Maybe we should include this guidelines in the rules for next year, despite how common sense it should be? "No torture, rape, mutilation (self or otherwise)"?

I do, too. I can totally understand her wanting to make a political statement, but a Catholic high school literary magazine is not the place to do it. Submit it to a non-school-related literary magazine and I will be all for supporting it, but for PW...we just can't publish it. Should we explain this to Justine, like we did with Jade? Or just kind of let it lie and just not include it?
