Who: Haruhi and Kyon
What: Oh snap, Closed Space!
Where: Closed Space/SS Haruhi II
Why? Cause Haruhi is moody. 8|
Warnings: Kinda cute?

This was weird. And not weird in the good way that Haruhi liked. Sure, it was mysterious and the sky outside was an oddly familiar grey, but her entire crew was gone! Every last one! Or well, so she assumed due to the general emptiness. First and foremost is to go straight to Kyon's room. Why Kyon's room? Because, uh... Just because! It's Kyon, why shouldn't his room be first!? Unlike everyone else, he was still there.

"Hey. Hey Kyon." Haruhi shook the sleeping young man.

Kyon's immediate first thoughts was that he'd have liked to sleep in a bit longer, given that he was pretty sure he had just fell asleep. As he turned and groaned, he could already hear the voice echoing in his ear. No doubt that it was Haruhi's. There was a familiar tone to it as well, but he just couldn't pinpoint what it was about it.

Regardless, he would turn his head and look over at her, still tucked in his covers. "What?"

"There's something weird going on." she said. "The sky is weird outside. And I can't find anyone else here." Not that she'd been looking yet, but she should have seen at least someone on the way.

He froze immediately at 'The sky is weird outside.' That wasn't to say that everyone else's disapperance wasn't very strange, but it was enough to get him to sit up. "...what do you mean by 'it's weird'"?

"It's kinda greyish... And there's no sign of clouds or anything either." she replied, crossing her arms.

And with that, he almost gave a very audible sigh. He should've known that as long as Haruhi was here, something dangerous like this would happen. She hadn't even been here a month and she was pissed off enough to do this?

"...alright." Sliding out of bed, he had noticed that he was indeed wearing casual clothing-- in fact, it was the same clothes he had worn before he went to sleep. Making a note to ignore what that's supposed to mean, he stood up and glanced out of the door. "You're sure everyone else isn't just sleeping?

"I don't know... Your room was the first one I came to." she said, trying to make it sound as though it was just at random she chose to check him first.

And just as random as that sounded, he knew the first room he wanted to try. Luckily, this was different from the school, and there may actually be a chance of people being around. "Let's go see if Nagato is up."

"Right! Good idea!" Haruhi replied. As the other member of the SOS Brigade on board, she probably would have been the next person she looked for anyway. However, she seemed to already somehow know deep down that it was just the two of them here...

As for him, he was hoping, praying that at least she made it through. Seeing as how the only other person with any knowledge of this type of thing wasn't even on the ship, Nagato would help immensely. But sadly, he didn't really feel that it would come to any type of fruition...

"...hey, Haruhi," Kyon broke the small silence with.

"Yeah Kyon?" she asked.

He faltered immediately. What was he supposed to say? That he had been watching over her threads with Fujiko just to see what she'd say? That he at least knew that Nagato and she had had a conversation? In the end, he just mumbled, "Nevermind." And continued walking.

"If you have nothing to say, you shouldn't pipe up like that!" she complained as she continued following after him.

He hadn't even thought about apologizing, but he grumbled something after she said that. He wasn't even sure what it was himself as they approached Nagato's room. Sighing, he looked at the girl at his side and back at the door, knocking lightly.

Haruhi stood there behind Kyon for a moment, staring at the door, before deciding to push past him and open the door herself. "HEY YUKI, YOU IN HERE!?"

Wishing that she would keep it down as to not wake anyone just in case, he turns to the side as she pushes past, looking past her into the seemingly dark and vacant room.

Haruhi wandered around the room herself. "I can't see her anywhere..." before sitting on the bed. "She's not in here."

A look of utter exhaustion passed over Kyon's face. Pressing his palm against the side of his head, he just looked around the room. She's not the type to hide and surprise anyone, so that wasn't it. He just gulped and looked at the floor before turning. "Come on. We have to look for her and see if anyone else is on board."

"I guess... Although I really think it might just be the two of us..." she replied as she got up and followed after him.

Being that the previous scenario saw the same thing happen to them, he didn't doubt it. But it would give them something to do, wouldn't it? He couldn't stay anywhere and wait for Koizumi to magically appear, so he had to find some way to get them back. If checking through the rooms would help, then that's what they'd have to do.

Haruhi followed after him regardless as they checked the rooms. No one was in any of them. Eventually Haruhi began to become fed up. "Geez... We're never going to figure out anything at this rate! It's obvious no one's here!"

Kyon had to pipe up at that remark at least. "Where do you think a ship full of... as many people as it has on it would hide them?" The notion sounded ridiculous to him, but he had to humor her.

"I don't know... But still. It's not like everyone would hide away for no reason without telling us!" she complained.

He wanted so badly to tell her that perhaps they had abandoned ship due to her hostile takeover, but he thankfully bit his tongue, just sighing. "Well... what do you think we should do then?"

"I-I don't know..." she said unsure. This whole thing may be a subconscious manifestation of her feelings for Kyon, but she sure wasn't willing to consciously admit their existence.

He sighed, and decided to finally bite the bullet. If he was going to watch the world crumble because of Haruhi's problems, then he might as well know what they are. "You seem kind of stressed out. Has the reality of being a captain caught up to you?"

"I can handle being a Captain just fine!" she shot back. "It's just... I don't know. Other things have been weighing on my mind a bit anyway..."

Bingo, he thought to himself. "Like what?"

"It's... Well..." she started, becoming somewhat meeker with maybe a slight blush, before snapping back to her overbearing self. "It's... It's none of your business anyway!" an outright lie.

Leaning against the wall, he just glanced at her. Kyon knew that if he couldn't get this out in the open, then this would either make things better or worse. He hadn't decided yet. "Well... try me."

"..." Haruhi made some kind of indescribable groan noise as she pouted somewhat and flushed a bright red.

Scratching his head, he decided to just get it out there. He HAD spoken to Fujiko about this anyway. "If you're really that insistant on getting security cameras, we can."

"Good. Although it's not about that either..." she said, before suddenly wishing she had taken the opportunity to lie and say it was that.

Well, now he felt stupid. He'd have to bank on Nagato's ability to mess with live security feeds. "It's not?"

"No, of course it's not about the cameras! It's about...!" she caught herself before blurting it out.

Kyon had to admit that the air was getting a bit uncomfortable. Haruhi wasn't the type to say anything like that out right, was she?

She turned red again as she folded her arms with a "Hmph!" and looked in the other direction. "It... It should be obvious, shouldn't it?"

It was getting obvious to him at least, but he didn't want to say anything about it, given the fact that he couldn't really do anything about that now. Either way, he sighed. "You know, there are a lot of other guys on the ship. In fact, I imagine that if you were to go up to any one of them--"

"Why should I care about them anyway!?" she said loudly as she cut him off, turning back around and pointing a finger right at him.

"Why are you pointing at me? I haven't done anything wrong!" He couldn't say that with a clear conscience, but that's what he wanted her to believe.

"I can point whenever I like!" she replied as she closed her eyes and crossed her arms again.

He sighed, before finally saying quietly. "So is being unable to care the problem?"

"No, it has nothing to do with them! It's... It's about you!" she finally managed to say before becoming incredibly silent and red.

He froze slightly, almost as if the world had ceased to spin. Was that supposed to mean what he thought it means? "...what about me?"

"Isn't it obvious!? You and me and..." another outburst which trailed off meekly. "Just... Just ignore what I'm saying. I'm not thinking straight!" she tried to excuse her behaviour.

He thought. Whatever he responded with would have a major effect on the world itself. He really wished he had time to think about this, but he wasn't getting that. "...someone else?"

"Something like that." she mumbled, almost inaudibly.

"There isn't really anyone else." He responded with, sighing. "I'm not exactly seeing anyone..."

"But... The thought that it could happen is just... I mean... What about me?" she said, though not in the typical bossy tone you'd expect, it almost sounded as though the was holding back tears.

He really wanted to know what she was asking of him. Was this her way of saying that she was jealous of someone who, in her own mind, doesn't exist? He couldn't keep up this lying much longer. "Wouldn't you be interested in someone more exciting than me? Like an alien?"

"I... I should be..." she started, although wasn't able to bring herself to finish it with the intended '... but I'm not.'

This was just getting too weird, even by his own standards. Either he was having one hell of a dream or... Haruhi Suzumiya was in front of him and seemed almost afraid that he would pick someone else over her. "Well... just know that I'm not, and I'm not exactly looking at the moment."

"... Good." she replied. Seeming to calm herself down a little.

He sighed again. Was that all that he needed to do? He honestly couldn't tell if the 'sleeping beauty' method would work again, so he'd have to improvise. "Are you tired at all from this... expedition?"

"... I guess. Maybe a little." she replied.

"...I'll walk you back to your room, if you want me to." He rubbed the back of his neck. Anything he did from this point on would be weird, and how would he know if this helped reduce Closed Space or not? Either way, he made a note to smack Koizumi when he arrived for not being here through this.

"I... I don't want to be alone." she replied. "Can you sleep with me?" she asked, before suddenly flushing red at the implications. "But... But not like that! No funny business! J-just together, with nothing going on!"

Kyon very definitely hadn't expected that. Well, that's what he gets for attempting to improvise he thought to himself before nodding, slightly flushing red.

"G-Good..." she replied as she began to walk back in the direction of her own room. "... Well, aren't you coming?"

"Uh... right." He had frozen in his spot before following her, trying to keep his mind clear of the implications that could come as a result of this if word got out.

She waited for Kyon to overtake her slightly so she could follow after him on the way back. She wasn't exactly sure why she did this, especially considering that as the Brigade Chief and Ship's Captain she should be the one doing the leading. Although it just felt nice to follow after Kyon for once.

He himself was surprised at Haruhi's willingness to let him pass her. He kept on course to her room however, trying not to feel the awkwardness coming from her eyes following him.

"Well, here we are." she said as they reached her room and opened the door before walking in.

He followed her inside, hands in his pockets as he looked around-- and his eyes couldn't help but be fixed on the bed that was there. If the world hadn't been at stake here, he would have ran out of the door and went back to his room, but nevertheless he remained there, just muttering. "Yeah."

She climbed into the bed and made sure to move herself over to one side so there'd be room for him too.

Going to the open side, he climbed in himself and made sure to face away from Haruhi, feeling that he'd be thrown off by her presence if he didn't look away.

"And remember, no funny business..." she made sure to reiterate before curling up against him to go to sleep.

"...yeah." Kyon muttered, believing himself that the night would be restless-- and yet finding himself falling asleep.

kyon is stupid, haruhi is in denial, ooc, is that closed space i see?
