Maaaan, college.

Did you hear about the time Chuck Norris was confronted by a problem and he solved it with a roundhouse kick, despite the fact that the particular problem was one not usually considered solvable by roundhouse kicks? And a bunch of college kids found it hilarious ( Read more... )

I liked Boondock Saints before I was in college...

*still feels le shamed*

Also, please for the love of God add Napoleon Dynamite to the list. If I hear another person quote that movie, I will beat them senseless.

It's not a bad movie by any means. Like, it's good. But come on, it's not the be all end all of movies.

When I saw beer pong played, they only rinsed it half the time. And one cup of water the whole time? It doesn't make your ball any cleaner. It's like taking a bath in the same water every day.

I've heard that a lot of people use another cup of beer to rinse of the DIRT&CRAP collected on their ping-pong balls... But then again they ARE using that same cup of beer to rinse off their balls. Beer pong fanatics will never listen to reason. I've learned to give up and avoid the subject by running away screaming.

I agree in general that Boondock Saints has ended up being way overrated by a lot of people -- but mainly because it really is awesome, and like all awesome things, inevitably, people lose all sense of reality about it. Same phenomenon with music. I love my favourite bands and I honestly think they're a hell of a lot better than just about everything else out there in measurable ways, but I'd never go so far as to say 'Neon Nights' is going to be as immortal a tune as 'Eine Klein Nachtmusik' (sp?). But there are people out there who will insist that Symphony of Destruction is as ultimately, inevitably immortal as Beethoven's symphonies, which, as much as I love the song and the band, is ridiculous ( ... )

As I've already said in a previous response, I like Boondock Saints. I do. It is a good movie. It has its funny parts, its awesome parts, its moments. I agree to that extent. And I understand living vicariously through movies. I just didn't want to go into all that in the post because then I'd have to put Garden State on the list too. Since most people only like it because they wish life was like that. Other movies apply here too, like Ferris Bueller or Breakfast Club. Or, hell, all the girls with Sex and (in? i can never remember) the City ringtones and boxsets who compare themselves to characters. Ugh, that show. I need to put that on the list. Ugh, just mentioning it has made me lose my train of thought, I need to make an edit!

I figured you probably did: "Tarantino with Irish accents" isn't exactly the most savage invective I've ever heard levelled at an overrated flick. ;p (Some people would say it constitutes overrating or at least a compliment in and of itself, in fact ( ... )
