I generally acknowledge than "humankind" is a higher rank than "mankind". If you'll read "An Essay on Man" by Alexander Pope, you'll see where I get this from. In one passage he notes:

"Vast Chain of Being! which from God began, / Natures ethereal, human, angel, man, / Beast, bird, fish, insect, what no eye can see..."

Based on that, I see human as being what God created us as, and we took the fall below angels when we initiated ourselves as man by defying God.

But, that's just me...

Interesting perspective. I think what really bothers me isn't whether one is more correct than the other (as I essentially view them as the same), but that I am being forced to use one over the other. I'm not sure what I think about your view of things, but then I don't even understand my own view more often than I'd like.

Also, on the small computer portion of the post. It'll let me load the pages fine to start and then after a time the pages will have more red x's or just give me the fine message of "page cannot be displayed." I ask you because of the few folks who read, I am pretty sure you're the most knowledgable. Any advice you can give would be helpful.

Um, I'm really not sure how you're trying to upload them, but if you're getting red X's, then I assume these pages are supposed to have images? Check to make sure the images are getting uploaded, too. As to why you're eventually getting "page cannot be displayed", well, like I said, you'd probably have to explain more of what you're actually trying to do.

I tend to be more archaic in my language, and lean more towards "mankind." I know I'm supposed to be the big feminist and all, but I really don't see what the big deal is. I can be included in mankind. Even wo-men are hu-man.
