Text Question

So, here's the deal. I've been making icons with GIMP for a long time now... and I've learned a lot. But I've never been able to find out how to warp text. I'd like to be able to play more with the way text looks, and I think playing with some warping might help ( Read more... )

The first thing you want to do is create a path in the shape you want using the paths tool (circular text is slightly different). Once you have your path, (or even before) you type your text using the text tool. Then on the toolbar, there should be an option that says "text along path." This will create a new path that you can then select (go to select > from path). Then create a new layer and fill it with whatever color you like.

Circular text follows much of the same steps except for the first few. You'll actually use the ellipse select tool to create your circle. Then you want to select > to path. Once you have the path, follow the same steps as you did above, and voila!
