I'm looking for a way to make a rectangle of color on a diagonal, like in this icon by

I've tried selecting an area with the rectangle select tool, filling it, and then rotating the selection or layer. But the edges of the rectangle always come out jagged and pixel-y (kind of like a tiny staircase). Is there a way to do it so that the edges stay neat and smooth?
