So I learned how to make meme font. My method is:

* Write what I want in black white ImpactCondensed

I'm just curios, but what does the end result look like? I tried your steps but I can't figure out how to fill the grown selection with black. After I alpha to selection, the layer becomes 'floating' and is already black.

Oh wow, I know what I said wrong - the first step is write what I want in white.
