Possibly the best way to describe Hotshot. That's why cops stay out. That's why they're in shambles. They're like a candle near the end of it's wick, slowly causing themselves to go out.

It makes me sad that they appear to have ended this storyline. I doubt they will ever go back to it too.

The Hotshot storyline is one place where Charlaine Harris has a grearter understanding of the dynamics of rural life than Alan Ball does.

I hope they don't go back to it because it is so pathological, but I wonder if it will be about Jason's progeny at some point.

In the books, I thought the Great Revelation of the shifters and the consequences of that was a great plot device, and having Crystal die as part of a hate crime was interesting and could be very powerful TV.

But it probably won't happen.
