you know, that place is like a mecca for all my floridian friends. the idea that if they can make it there, they can make it...
you, evan, ben seem to love the place. i had one floridian friend who couldn't hack it, so she now lives in georgia. i guess she'll have to live with the knowledge that she can't make it anywhere. weakling. so am i, for that matter. i spent three years of my life and every summer there. i won't go back. not even to visit. there's even an unwritten rule in my family that if they're visiting relatives, they know not to bother inviting me bc i'm so staunchly anti-ny. i guess it's bc there's an arrogance about it from what i've experienced.
for most folks, i think it's a necessary a rite of passage. like a bar mitzvah or having children. nice entry, btw :)
You're right. It ain't easy. And, I think you captured that well in this post. I've had help and I'm still struggling. I have certain goals that are helped by being here or L.A. I loathe the thought of LA. I have been fortunate to have family and friends up here and I hope they all stay as long as they can. So, don't go anywhere soon. :)
