I liked the notes I wrote over at ff.net so I left them intact here at the end of the epilogue. I have another post of notes coming up, too. I have a lot to say!! ;)
I just finished reading this story and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it! I'm amazed and moved and simply blown away, not only by the story itself, but also by your talent for telling such an epic tale. <3
What struck me the most was a message that I will take away and ponder and, hopefully, always remember - and that is: Enjoy the people you love in your life now, because you never know when they could be gone. I loved the love story between Luke and AU Mara, but also the story of Luke and Ben. As you said, it was a tale of fathers and sons and, I think, families as a whole. Nobody is perfect and there will always be "what ifs" around the corner, but cherishing what we have is the key to true happiness.
Thank you for writing and sharing such a beautiful story, ginchy! Love you, gal. *HUGS*
Trace!!! *hugs* Thank you so much!!! I am so pleased you liked the story and that it left you with that message. Luke's learned that lesson the hard way far too many times in his life. I'm so glad he and Mara had at least 20 years of marriage, but forever wouldn't have been enough (though I'm sure they could have annoyed one another a lot in that time, too. hee!)
But I so agree that it is about families. Having Maia made me realize the connection from mother to daughter and how our families are bound together by that invisible bond.
Thank you for reading and I love you, too, lady!! I hope to see you at CVI... :D :D
Can you believe I just found this story!? I have been a terrible Luke/Mara fan lately...
This was so heartwrenching, and tender, and beautiful, and HOT all at the same time. Poor Luke, missing his Mara so much that he took a huge chance just on the hopes of seeing her again. I still wish there was some way the two of them could have been together, but I also like that Luke came back for his son. You know, my Jacob is Ben's age now, and I have to say I'd jump through dimensional wormholes for him, too!
This is kind of rambly, but I just wanted to say what an excellent job you did here, Ginchy! I loved it!
Hey, gal! I was just thinking of you the other day. Thanks so much for finding and reading my labor of love. I'm so glad you enjoyed. I wish there had been a way for them all to be together, too. That's why I wrote the much more lighthearted "200 Proposals" to show the alternate L/M having happier times!!
I cannot believe Jacob is a teen now!! Where has time gone??? I hope you guys are doing well and thanks again for reading. It means so much to me!!!
I just read this whole story last night. I must confess, I almost didn't read it because of our Mara already being gone and she is the one character I will never forgive the writers for killing. But I am so happy I chose to read it anyway. I can't recall how many times I was brought to tears, both from sadness and joy. Truely a magnificent piece of emotional work. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you SO much!! EoA is my fandom baby--my 'love letter' to L/M. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it, even with the difficult subject matter, and Mara's death. This story was for me to deal with Mara's death. I will always miss her as she was.
