Killarney Park, Ontario Canada - August 2005

Just got photos from my exhausting summer hiking/canoeing/sailing trip in Canada.

Beautiful Killarney Park, Ontario

More scenic goodness.

Killarney is known for its lakes which are insanely numerous and also extremely clear and blue. The blue color is due to acid rain killing off the lake organisms and makes the lakes as blue as the Caribbean sea. It is an amazing thing being able to see down 20 feet of clear blue gorgeousness. Swimming after a long day of hiking and canoeing in a clear blue lake surrounded by limestone cliffs was unforgetable. You can kinda see the blue tint of the water in the second picture.

The easy kind of hiking (ie: without a canoe on top of your pack, portaging, which was the only way to jump from lake to lake)

Camp.

Rapeling down a 120' cliff.

Me and my friend Katie on the big sailboat. We took the boat from the park in Ontario down to Detroit. On the way we ran into 12 foot high waves and huricane level winds!!! That was a horrible night, everyone vomited and held on for their lives as the ship swayed from 45 degrees to 45 degrees. Needless to say no one was taking pictures.

Finally we arrived in Detroit and calm water.
