Well marina asked so I felt it would be rude not to.
10 simple pleasures thingamajig:
Im not sure if they are simple pleasures (TM) but they are things I enjoy.
1. Bimbling: Taking the time to just wander with no particular goal in mind, watching the world go by and seeing the people all caught up in thier own lil worlds. Helps me realise that whats going on in my life isnt actually that important and it allows me to let everything flow out and just enjoy the moment.
2. Dancing: I have yet to find anything quite like that feeling when the beat envelops you, you move how the music makes you feel and everything else fades away into the background.
3. Movies: I love them, my taste covers most genres and styles. Again they can be a form of escapism, in that I can turn my mind off and just revel in the moment.
4. Games: Computer games, board games, war games, card games, games my head makes up as i go, I like them all. Games opperate on rules and rules are something I can understand, get to grips with and make sense to me, unlike most other things.
5. Singing: I love to sing, im aware im not very good at it, I can carry a passable tune at times, but generally follow the "Loudly with enthusiasm" method. I like learning songs, some I sing around other people, some I only ever sing when im alone, I tend to sing when I get bored or when i need a destraction or when the feeling moves me.
6. Friends: My friends mean a great deal to me, I take pleasure in knowing them, spending time with them and talking to them.
7. Thunder storms: I like thunder and lightning, there is something ominious and majestic about it, and they can be sooo pretty. :-)
8. Cakes: I like eating cake as you might guess from my figure :-p But Im talking about making them, Its a recently rediscovered joy. I generally quite enjoy cooking, unfortunatly i tend to be very lazy in that regard so I dont bake often. But I take great delight in making my insano cakes, there is a huge amount of planning and prep that goes into it, which appeals to me cos that just the kinda of person i am, and then the couple of days spent creating are just great, infuriating and annoying at times but its worth it for sense of achievement.
9. Counter point: I take an odd element of pleasure when I notice something that is at odds with its surroundings, or one element of something is the opposed to the rest of it. Im not sure why and im not sure if i have explained it very well, but there it is.
10. #hugs#: One term i hidiously overuse. I do tend to like hugging people as a sign of endearment and friendship. I also use the term alot because im not very good with emotions and expressing my feelings and often use it as a catch all term to try and express my feelings without being a numpty. And for the same reason I often default to it when someone is having problems and my being a fuckwit means I cant come up with anything better or more helpfull. I also tend not to be very good at being tactile when it comes to other people and hugs are one of the few generally safe ways I can be so without causing offence.
Actual hugs I take pleasure in giving and receiveing, #hugs# i enjoy sending because they allow me to put down everything I want to say even if the recipient doesnt always realise quite how much hugs mean to me.
