Breakfast at the Rothsteins

Ginger had intended to be awake before Sam. She had intended to make him his favorite eggs, and have Amy all ready in her high chair, all tidy and bathed with ribbons in her hair. She had intended to make a really good impression on Sam, let him know that this was what she wanted ( Read more... )

Sam looked up from the The Daily News to see his wife. He sipped at his coffee and followed her journey from bedroom to kitchen.

"Morning." Sam was in relatively high spirits and it appeared his normal positive outlook had been restored. He was in far too good a mood to take his wife to task for doing something she'd done every night since he'd met her.

"What have you got on today?" he asked her, not honestly expecting much of a response he would consider worthwhile.

Sam was happy Ginger was back. Happier still that she hadn't left last night when she might have tried to.

Ginger hadn't planned beyond breakfast to be honest, and that had already gone awry. Despite the disappointment, Sam's mood brought a smile to her face as she leaned over to kiss his forehead before taking a seat at the table.

"I thought maybe I'd go do some shopping this morning," she shrugged, "Maybe come and join you for lunch? If you're not too busy." She lifted the cup to her lips, peering at him over the white porcelain rim to wait for his answer.

Sam seemed happy enough as he nodded appreciatively of Ginger's plans.

"Good. Get yourself something to wear to dinner tomorrow night. We're going to Nicky's place. He wants to buy us dinner. I'll see you at lunch in the restaurant."

With that, he was away to the elevator. He smiled warmly at the scene in the kitchen as he waited for doors to open, and then his working day had begun.
