It had been an unusual week and I'd made a new friend. I thought about asking her to come, but guessed that wouldn't go down real well. Not with anybody who mattered. Still, there was plenty of time for Paige.
Tonight was for my friend. The Jew. And his crazy wife, Ginger. They were back together and Sam was happy. If he was happy then I was happy for him. So what if I'd been with Ginger. That was over. She knew it and so did I.
I strolled around the restaurant and shook hands and patted shoulders. I am the host and believe me, if the food was bad, nobody would ever fucking complain, because hey have to complain to me. If they complain, I'll put a shot glass right in their eyes."

Sam had known that fur wasn't cheap as soon as she'd stepped out of the bedroom, but time was pressing on, and he didn't like to be late, so he'd not asked. Ginger had already taken half an hour longer than she should have. Besides, she looked stunning.

The fur looked amazing on her and, despite the cost, he was sure it was worth every cent that he had no doubt paid for it.
"You look incredible," Sam said as she joined him at the penthouse elevator doors.
Sam wondered if this was going to be the most perfect night since his invite to the Country Club. So far, he couldn't help but think that it would be.

She'd smiled at him with eyes that were in love with him still as they'd stepped into the elevator. And now, outside the restaurant, as Sam's arm slipped around her waist, she'd kissed his cheek with an easy familiarity.
Ginger was on form, she'd turned on the charm, and was ready to make every head turn when they walked in.
