Hey, my parents are there this week and they might go to that concert too!

I won't make fun of you, for Mandy Moore is awesome, haha. I went to see her the day before my birthday last year, in fact. This is my video of her acoustic version of "Candy". :D

I seriously ♥ Mandy Moore. Why aren't you here with the folks?

School. :( And the fact that it's a horribly last-minute planned trip that they just booked last week!

Basically, my dad's there because he wants to open an internet cafe business there and run it from here. I actually worry that his dreams are gonna extend farther than his business savvy...but oh well.

Out of curiosity (since you would know far better than I would, actually LIVING there) do you think his business venture would work? We've heard a lot of claims that people can make buttloads of money from those things, but startup costs, investments, etc...is it worth it?

Wow, I changed the subject...um, yay Mandy Moore! My mom texted me asking if the concert would be worth it, since I'd seen her live, and she was pissed that she missed Maroon 5 on the 5th! I will say that Mandy has an amazing voice that sounds great live. And she's trying to make her image all acoustic-like, which is working well for her. You're gonna have a great time. :)

Your dad's "vision" is based on fact, actually. I'm not too sure of "buttloads" of money, but the internet business is one of hottest ones right now.

Just tell him to make sure he gets a nice area for it. Close to schools or subdivisions would be awesome. You should have lots of games for those who are crazy about those--basically, you'd be feeding the addictions of gamers in the country. And there are buttloads of them.

Also, make sure to get trustworthy people to run your business. Of course, that's a given, but I thought I should say it nonetheless.

I'm so excited about Mandy... *swoons*

I'm excited for you, though I couldn't tell you what Mandy Moore actually sings. And wasn't she a dying girl in a movie? Obviously, I keep up!

Mandy Moore sings pop. And she did this cute cover Todd Rundgren's Can We Still Be Friends. :)

Yes, she was a dying girl in A Walk to Remember.

I guess I'd better not be wearing my Mandy Moore t-shirt until I learn a bit more.

I heart Mandy Moore and I don't care who knows it. Never heard her music, but she gets enormous points for dissing her own first album. Have a great time!!! :D

She's one of the few younger "artists" who's not afraid to experiment. I like that about her. :)

younger "artists"

It's funny. I remember when I was growing up (I'm 30) there was this massive implied eyeroll about being a singer and actor at the same time if you hadn't started out from a theater background. So it's really funny to me that Jennifer Lopez turned out to be a sort of modern day Marilyn Monroe reintroducing the multi-pronged career back into pop culture. Utterly bizarre.

In any case, I wouldn't be averse to hearing Mandy Moore sing, because I'm sure she has a legitimate set of pipes. Besides, her personality would more than make up for it if she didn't. I trust her taste, generally, too.
