I do love the holiday season, but feeling obligated to be filled with Christmas cheer all season is exhausting. It's like they say with kids - they need to know from us, the parents, that all emotions are valid and okay. And we need to know that too!! Feeling like, okay this is the season of joy so THAT'S THE ONLY OPTION is guaranteed to create anything but joy. Just rolling with the season, being present, that's the best way to celebrate. I think that's true for every season, too. I'm sure I've said this a hundred times but I love that the pagan style of celebrating each season has helped me become calmer even in seasons I used to be uncomfortable with, like summer. Instead of tensing up all season and looking so forward to fall that I miss summer, I'm able to be more present and appreciate stuff as it comes up.
