art journaling in mid-January

Since I’ve been experimenting with different schedules and things in my art studio, I’ve been art journaling a little differently. Not nearly as much as I did in December (well, December Daily took up most of my creative time in December, to be honest) but a fair amount. A little each day…

Here’s some pages from this week.

OK, here's how old I am. I went to see "Ferris" when it first came out, in the theater! I haven't seen it since, though. I'm glad your family is enjoying it.

Love, love, love the photo of Gracie and her kitty cat! And the one with the orchids--wow! That's just beautiful!

When I used to scrapbook, I used to match the background of the page to the photos. Now it's more of a "little of both" process. Sometimes I do it one way, sometimes the other.

I once did an interview w/our local orchid growers club when I worked at the paper. I was surprised that there is basically an orchid for every environment! I thought they all required tropical temperatures and a hothouse!

I went to see Pretty in Pink the day it came out, and I'm excited to show Gracie that. I'm not sure she's interested right this moment, though.

I love that photo of Gracie and Ginger!!! So very sweet. :-)

Holy cow do I love Ferris Bueller's Day Off, too!!! I watched it soooooo many times as a kid, I still know many lines from it. I recognized the quote you used right away. And practically any time someone says the word professional, I say, "a professional what?"

I also still like saying, "ferris bueller, you're my hero.." The way Cameron does. Hehe!

In your last photo, the art looked like a brain to me for a second, which is awesome! Flower and brain, simultaneously!

I love that movie, too! It's funny, because we are showing Gracie all the movies that came out when we were younger, and the ONLY one that has *really* held up in a "film-esque" sorta way is Ferris. Even though it's very much "of the 80's moment", it's SUCH a beautiful, clever, and THOUGHTFUL film. I'm surprised it's not recognized more for it's technique and script, because there's a lot of good stuff in there!
