listening to springsteen...again

Listening to Bruce Springsteen and the E St. Band, live at the Angora Ballroom in Cleveland, OH 1978. Getting goosebumps every minute. Hey ho rock n roll deliver me from nowhere. Their hearts are being played out of their chests and the concert is 3 DISCS LONG. I can't really believe it when my friends dislike Springsteen. I know different ( Read more... )

I think you hit on exactly why Springsteen is great. I also glanced upon some similar statements in the On Tour photo/biography book. Basically making the argument that we feel a little closer to them because we can kind of see their limitations sometimes? I mean, just what you said, stretching his limits and working with what he has. Albeit to wonderful and amazing result. Plus I think it's more powerful to see good art come from a "normal dude" that you might see around town or is friends with your parents. Do you know what I mean? I mean, I like Yoko Ono and The Talking Heads and Laurie Anderson too, but it's nice to have a working class hero. A working class hero is something to be.
