Do you ever just wonder about things?  I do.  All of the time.  Is that weird?

Those of you that know me in RL know, with utter certainty, that I have plenty to do to keep me busy~~so it's not as though I need more activities to keep myself occupied.  And yet, I still wonder...

My parents always discouraged it as a waste of time. I could go "Did you ever wonder..." and they'd go "NO" before I even finished the question. *grumble*

Artichoke, that's a good one. How about coffee? How about tobacco?? The latter two especially mystify me, because they are both FOUL when you first try them. What possessed anyone to keep trying?

Um, do you want the Indigenous worldview answer? :-) It was probably tried, along with many other things because it was there to eat (no grocery stores or anything).

ETA: Oh, and the "how to cook it and what parts to eat" was probably by trial and error.
