There were a large number of people in Aberdeen today wearing comedy Irish hats, a phenomenon I haven't seen before. I'm not sure why people in Scotland should be celebrating Ireland day, since I'm sure Irish people don't celebrate Scotland day*, however any opportunity to drink to excess is always welcome! Aberdeen was also having a jazz festival, and it was nice weather** so people were sitting outside and stuff. It was...er... interesting.

* neither do the Scots.

** 12C. Hey, it wasn't raining!

here it seems to be Halloween in Green. Costumes and coordinated green outfits and ... excessive drinking (go figure)

St. Patrick's Day is kind of like a pie, a pizza, or an oreo cookie: Eat the parts you like and leave the rest on the plate! Cheers!

There is only one Irish beer, made with genuine Liffey water, it is called Guinness. And it doesn't come in cans, that's the cheap export stuff, it comes in oak kegs, and is drawn by a hand pump, not a fishtank filter thing. The head should be thick and white, and the body should be black.

My hubby is big into Guinness
I like it in things (particularly chocolate cake) but I don't drink it. If I wanted to drink molasses I'd drink molasses.
I prefer Smythwicks - samr brewing company I believe
