September 11, 2010.
A day that is legally called "Patriot Day" in America, but is seldom referred to anything but "9/11" or "September 11th."

Nine years ago, September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four airplanes. Two of which were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Another, the Pentagon. And the last crashed in a field in my home ( Read more... )

I'm giving you a standing ovation, making my family wonder what the hell I'm reading.
Very well written. If it were an essay, I'd cover in in post-its with A+++ everywhere, so's not to ruin the original copy.

=^..^=~

I was just about to make a post about this topic. I feel that 9/11 is just given too much publicity. People will remember that day. Especially people who have lost loved ones. I kind of see it in distaste for news to show images all over or history channels to have marathons of that. It most likely still has wounds on people's hearts and its hard to move on if every year its slapped right in your face. Not to mention I really dislike the hate that has developed by this event. Not every Muslim is evil. And calling foreigners terrorists is completely ignorant and untrue.

In a way - I'm grateful to the History Channel for airing these events. Our memories fade & even though personally - I'd like to forget, I won't let myself. Thus - to be able to re-watch these events & let them stay there, it's a service of sorts. Because I don't ever want to forget. This is just my opinion though.

Sorry if I've offended you in any way but I was just reading through these replies - & I had to voice my opinion. Sorry.

No, you haven't offended me. And I respect your opinion. And I'm not saying you or any others that feel this way are wrong. I just....feel like the people putting this things together are not thinking it through, or going about it the right way.. Usually when they air something they want the audience to feel something. And alot of times we feel sadness, guilt or anger. Those three feelings are not what Americans need to feel every year. Remembrance is one theme that should be incorporated in it and the next theme should be to help America try to move on.

lol sorry...I'm a Media/Film major so I kinda went on a tangent.

But thank you for your comment. I'm just grateful someone didn't try to bite my head off for expressing my opinion ♥

Each person deals with this anniversary in a different way.
I think the media tributes won't be as uncouth the coming two years because the Memorial will be open & people can go & express their feelings there - which I think, so long as they conduct themselves tastefully will be much, much better.

I'd never bite your head off, freedom of speech is your's & I'll never ever deny you that right. ; D

We've been talking about the "Burn the Quran" business in my World Religions class. I think it's completely unethical, unconstitutional, and just plain wrong. At least my teacher's not one of those uber-christian bigots.

Very nicely written, gingey.

I remember that day so well, it's not even funny, and I was only 6 at the time, too. It's one of those things that burns itself into your memory.
