We had a fantastic time seeing friends in Seattle. We didn't expect to see as many people as we did. Thanks, y'all. I even got to squeeze in a visit with kalluna and dhw.

I raved about this back in June - it was the inspiration for 12 Monkeys. It's fantastic. I rarely make blanket movie recommendations this strongly. Watch it while you can. Subtle, creepy, lovely, and hard to find.

We spent the weekend before last with our adorable godson and his parents gilthalas and emschwar in suburban DC. The Wee One was fantastically well behaved and we had a great visit with the three of them.

JA Henckels' US headquarters is a short drive from our house. They have a warehouse sale every fall at which their knives, gadgets, and accessories sell for 20-50% of retail. I spent $190 today on about $600 of shiny bits. That was sooooo worth standing in line for an hour. http://i95coalition.org/ is a godsend. With free wifi at Maryland rest areas, we're able to check for traffic snarls before we leave on a trip to NY or NC and get an update about halfway through. We headed out for a long weekend of debauchery in Las Vegas with A&C~F last weekend. US Airways and the bad weather Thursday night helped us make that a not-so-long weekend. Thankfully, US Air put us up for free in a nice hotel where we were able to enjoy 2 1/2 hours of sleep and a shower. After kickaha's appointment on Tuesday, we wandered around Manhattan for a while. He desperately needs a new pair of boots, but that wasn't in the cards.
