Sometimes I wonder

Whether some people think at all.
Today I stood and waited 15-20mins while the only person in the Vodafone store in the new Albany mall capable of telling me about roaming gave instruction on how to use their phone to someone who was either too stupid to own a phone, or too precious to read an instruction manual. From my experience roaming in the US, all that needs to be done at this end is filling out the Roaming Request form. Once you hit the States you just need to switch on your phone and it will locate the US network automagically. It's really that simple.

As for stupid people, at least you weren't having to talk to the guy who lives in Sumner (Chch) and is complaining because he can't get the same internet speeds he gets in the US and Europe.

Heh - see I got told that you didn't have to do anything other than find a network once I got to the States (what they call autoroaming - similar to the case in Oz). After ringing the customer service folks having and the girl on the end of the line tell me the same thing, I was all prepared to believe that the website was wrong, when she did a bit of extra checking and informed me that Autoroaming is no longer available in the States, and I do have to fill out forms in order to get Credit roam - extremely glad that I didn't get to the States and figure that one out. So that's tomorrow's errand.
