Grilled cheese makes everything better. Unless you're lactose intolerant, I suppose, in which case I'd suggest blue raspberry icies. Mm.

Aw, thank you! Yeah, burnt grilled cheese. In my mind, Sam is NOT a good cook. I think someone once wrote a story about how Sam had a tendency to nibble at other people's food rather than making his own and it so perfectly worked for me that I had to incorporate it into my personal canon. Plus it's all the more excuse for Dean to do the cooking instead, which is very much a love of mine. But grilled cheese? I can see Sam making grilled cheese, like some sort of specialty of his that he'd secretly be extraordinarily pleased at being able to make. *g*

And yeah, IMHO Sam would need to ask because Dean dropping bombshells didn't exactly work so well in S4. I love the concept though of what Dean went through having some actual benefit, even if Sam can't bring himself to ask just yet.

(Oh man, thank you for pointing that out! I'll definitely get that corrected right away.)

ARGH. I wrote out a nice long reply to your email and then HOTMAIL ATE IT. Aaargh. My apologies if it takes longer than anticipated to get back to you now. :(

Though back on topic, thanks for the link! And YES Dean is v. v. much entitled to a bit of rage at that concept. Then again, one of my favorite concepts in stories is the pawn who makes it to the other side of the board and becomes a queen...

Not that Dean is a queen. But you know what I mean.

Ouch, boys. Ouch.

Love how utterly incompetant Cas is even when he's being smart. Seriously. He better be more useful in the future, or I will disown him. ;)

Ouch, boys. Ouch.

But they're getting better!

As for Castiel, well, "tact" is probably one of those small human things he's still working on. I'm pretty sure Stolas is smart enough to have placed some of those anti-angel glyphs from 4x15 about as well, so he's going the best he can with limited information. *g*

'Been there, done that, dealt with the catastrophic results' he didn't say, but some things weren't necessary to actually speak aloud.

I really, really love that line. And this was awesome post-hell not talking about it talking about it. Thanks!

Aw, thank you! The whole issue of not talking about it while needing to talk about it but really not wanting to talk about it is going to be a fun one for canon to address. It's one of the things I most hope to see in S5. *g*

Great writing here, as always. Interesting observation about Sam not realizing what a great resource Dean could have been about Hell: it's a nice nod to just how claustrophobic Ruby had made Sam's world during their time together. And good characterization of both brothers plus grilled cheese for the win!

Aw, thank you! The funny thing is that I actually don't like grilled cheese but in my mind somehow it's the ultimate comfort food. And yeah, Sam's insulation is a factor I like to play around with - there's so much that he didn't see in S4, partially because he wasn't looking but also partially because Ruby was leading him down a road that would blind him to it.

Either way, I can't wait to see what happens when his eyes are opened in S5 - I'm sure it will be a painful experience, both for him and for us as the audience to watch, but I'm equally certain that it's necessary.
