mum used to be a sewing machinist for companies like marks and spencers, and we have some customised ones she did in her own time in the roof. she'd like to put one in for the auction, but i wanted to check on the posting times

is it to be sent by nov 6th or to get there by then? we have postal strikes galore in england (shock horror i still have awol birthday cards from family due to it) so we need to add that onto sending time

Hi, Laura!

Great question! I was just asked that by someone else, too, so I'll share what I told her and then I'm going to go post this info so it's visible to others, too. ;-)

The timing that is listed for shipping is really targeted at those shipping from North America. We know that shipping times are rather tricky coming in from Europe, so we didn't even attempt to put down something firm, because the reality is that it's too unpredictable. Our wish is to have the items in hand by the time the auction starts on November 14th. However, so long as we know the auction item has definitely been shipped to us and so long as we have a photo of it which we can put up on the auction thread, we can be flexible. We'll just include a note on that auction thread explaining that the item is being shipped from overseas and will take longer to reach us and be forwarded to the winning bidder.

Will regular prompted fanfic (the kind the last auction was mostly about) count?

Hi, Yamx!

At this point we're not planning on doing an Author Auction setup like we have in the other auctions. The reason for that is simply that there doesn't seem to be a strong enough interest. The vast majority of the authors we've talked to about this have indicated that they're rather swamped in the wake of the September auction. We don't want our authors burning out on us, so we were going to hold off on an Author Auction forum until we do the next auction in April.

HOWEVER, like Capt. Jack, we're flexible! *g* So far I've only had you and one bidder express any interest in our including an Author Auction this time around. If enough other people indicate they want to write for this auction, I'd bet that The Powers That Be could open the auction for an Author Auction forum.
