I absolutely love the Art Gallery and walking down there, through the domain. It is like walking down the aisle at church, and when you get to the altar, wondrous things await you to see and ponder on. I really love the way you have picked the painting apart so well to discover such meaning. I must admit that at first I didn’t see all of the intricacies you have pointed out and hence I guess skimmed past the painting finding it, obviously, not as appealing as you did. After reading your description, however, I now have a new appreciation for this picture. I don’t think there is a single detail that you have missed out on. I really like how you have pointed out that Drysdale elongates the figures likening them to the gum tree in shape and characteristics. The endurance of the “Aussie Battler” is lasting.
I just wanted to thank you, too, for such a great descriptive analysis of this image because I can now see so much more to the substance of it. You did a great job Giovanna!!
