Judith Wright was an individualist and environmentalist with many issues in her sights, globally and environmentally, she felt passionate about.  So passionate that she expressed her thoughtfully heavy heart and thoughts in her poetry.  Her poetry makes you sit up and listen and think about the real issues in this world that need to be addressed.  ( Read more... )

Your Poem on Pavarotti nancy_m September 21 2007, 07:37:56 UTC
What a gorgeous poem. To be honest, I have never been an opera fan until quite recently when I heard by chance as I was changing channels the voice of Paul Potts, the British Opera Singer and my skin started to crawl with a thousand goose bumps. I have never experienced this with music before. With word yes, but not a voice. I find it quite amazing that just as Pavarotti has left us, that Paul has entered the scene. If the other singers ever come to Australia, I'll be going.

What I liked about your poem is the cleverness of the title. At first I didn't pick it up until I realised whom your poem was dedicated to. It was a pleasant surprise. In a short space of time, you enmeshed his music with the landscape, giving it a life that breathes and lives on. Somehow, I don't think he'll be silenced. He lives on in all the millions of people whom he gave joy through the gift of his voice. What a pity, I never discovered his talent before he passed away- Ah, but there are the records/CD's- he lives on.....
