Interesting day..

Today started out with my 5 year old daughter's beloved goldfish "Goldie" dying. She/he hadn't been looking too good for the last couple of days. Luckily I was the first to find Goldie belly up in her/his bowl (she/he resided in my studio). She/he had been with us for quite a long time, maybe even longer than your average goldfish and my daughter ( Read more... )

I know, I was on the brink of tears too. She surprised me when she moved on so quickly though and she is very happy with her new fish. Now we just have to figure out the best way to explain to her that we can't put any other fish in the tank with her sweet little fish Nemo b/c he will attack them all...lol

Aren't 5 year olds fun? The things you think that will crush them, are no big deal and the stuff that seems like no big deal is the end of the world!! Camie's the same way.

YAY for a new fish. How cute that Grace named him Nemo!!

Yeah, it was so funny b/c I was thinking it was going to be such a big moment in her life: learning about death for the 1st time. But she had her sad moment and then moved on quicker than we expected.

Kids never cease to amaze us! I had similar experiences with my son when he was little, I'd be totally devastated and worried out of my mind about him and he would just move on quicker than I could re-compose myself. I miss those days though...now he's a teenager and I barely know what's going on inside his head half the time, more than that actually...I miss those baby days...Enjoy yours as much as you can, time flies...one day you're a hero and then, poof! it's gone, you're just the source of embarassment!!!

I spent so much time worrying how she was going to react and trying to prepare myself for the right responses, but she was a trooper and just amazed me. I do enjoy this time with them b/c I know it passes so fast :)
