hi, there! if you're a fan of anything i've written, you should do this meme, which i've simply transferred over from
my tumblr to livejournal:
"Pick any passage of 500 words or less from any fanfic I’ve written, and (comment on this post with it). I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I

He peers over at Ryan’s sleeping figure as he tugs his shoes on at five in the morning smiles to himself, ducking down to lace up his sneakers. Ryan stirs in his sleep, tugging the duvet closer to his chest, eyes blinking open.
“Goin’ out again?” He asks blearily, sitting half up on his elbow. Sergey shushes him, muttering about how he’s going to take a couple pictures and that he’ll be back later. Ryan nods and falls dazedly back into the bed, smiling in his half-asleep state, mumbling just coherently about how he should be careful and have fun and he’ll see him later. Sergey’s still smiling as he tucks the strap of his camera bag around his shoulder and ducks down the stairs to grab his keys.
Maybe he’ll bring Ryan along, sometime. Not now, but maybe sometime.
I'd love to hear what you were thinking writing this. It feels so sweet (and a touch slashy) to me.

And yeah, it is pretty slashy, at least in my mind- the two of them together is just one of the sweetest things ever, I love best friends in love.
Mostly I just love little, subtle interactions between people, especially when it's not so much about the words, but the thoughts and feelings behind it. Serg needs time to himself, and Ryan gets that, and I feel like in life he totally would, too, because that's just how their jobs work, they need people to understand that time to themselves is something they never ever get, because even when they're alone, after a rough case it doesn't quite feel like they're alone, but actually being with yourself and being able to do what you love, that's something refreshing that no one can take away, and Ryan and Serg both need and respect that ( ... )

. Including someone on something near sacred to you is a huge shift in trust and openness, and they would definitely share everything together.
There's a picture I found on the internet (maybe on Ryan's FB page) that illustrates this so well. It's from a few years ago, and it shows Ryan writing while sitting by a lake. It says that Sergey took the pic (no surprise there) and it's just a perfect representation of them. Ryan writing, Sergey taking pictures, together but each doing their own thing. Love it.
Reading Ryan's book, it was like- he didn't talk about the others as much except for cases, but for all the big moments in his life, he mentioned Serg, going to Sergey for advice, asking him what he'd do, or even just letting him tell him that he needed to work it out on his own. They share a lot with each other, it's totally apparent, and I just absolutely love that dynamic.Oh, I so thought the same thing. I think I was two or three chapters ( ... )
