These photos continue to be totally unreal. I find myself wanting to travel to a place I didn't even know existed a week ago!

More power to you trying the fermented mare's milk. I consider myself an adventurous eater too and I dunno if I would have the stomach for that (oh god, pun)

Kefir. I drink that every day, fermented goats milk. Did you like it?

It does sound a little like Dough, which is Iranian, and as far as I can tell, is yogurt, carbonated water, and salt.

I suppose fermentation inside the belly of a dead goat might make a difference. ; )

I think fermented food of most kinds are touted as healthy. Good for you for trying it.

and I meant to mention last night, this entire trip of yours has been one of my favorites, vicariously lived through. Your photos are outstanding.

Yeah, it's rare that I really balk at any sort of food or drink, but it was not good.
