Minor folds ? Does.. does that invalidate the value of the currency somehow, or am i not interpreting what you've typed correctly ?

Earlier she wrote people would only accept flawless money, but I've already forgotten the reason (fear of forgery? that was a real problem with spending "large" bills in Argentina...).

Exactly, fear of forgery. Any little tear or too much folding and they wouldn't take your bills.
